An interesting aspect of the degradable substrate developed by BME - ETT colleagues and the DESIRE4EU project is the design for manufacturability. Since the first prototype, several generations of substrate materials have been produced, where, in addition to the challenges of PCB manufacturing, new issues have come up in terms of assembly, in addition to improved parameters.
The most common problems encountered are short circuits between filled zone and neighbouring conductors, and inadequate connection between copper surfaces around via holes and hole plating. The presentation will show how "just enough technology" can be applied to design, how to solve or improve the problems by design, how a prototyper can help research to get the most out of this new type of carrier with so much potential.
